Beans

Jimmy Edgar Beans' new album Shock City Maverick is undoubtedly his best record yet, and has received heaps of praise and support from critics and fans alike. Pushing the envelope in both its lyrical content and its raw, futuristic electronic production, this is hip-hop beamed from another dimension that never loses touch with the listener or the dancefloor. 'Backpack' my arse. Mark Pritchard (Reload/Global Communication/Jedi Knights..) contributed production to both the album and the preceding Down By Law single, and this is some of his best, fattest low-end work ever…

New Gravenhurst

Jimmy Edgar

Jimmy Edgar
Gravenhurst's new EP Black Holes In the Sand is out now, marking a significant progression for Gravenhurst - the sonic elements of the album Flashlight Seasons have been magnified, the undercurrent of lyrical dread intensified, yet the title track is as immediate and approachable as anything on the previous album.

The rural elements of the album 'Flashlight Seasons' are extended with the epic 'Flowers in Her Hair', then stretched to breaking point with a daring cover of Hüsker Dü's murder song Diane. Gravenhurst is on tour in the UK now!  see below.

    Savath & Savalas - Apropa't

    Savath & Savalas

    Savath & Savalas
After causing a ruckus back in January with the Access Rhythm EP, Detroit's Jimmy Edgar returns with his second release for Warp, Bounce, Make, Model, out now. (15th in the USA) If Access Rhythm was a masterful slice of razor sharp hip-hop, the new record showcases his unique hybrid of slamming electro, futurist r'n'b stylings and devastating programming that he has made his own.

“Herbie Hancock's 'Rockit' being laid into by skinheads.. Every track drags electro into a deeper, darker dimension where Timbaland is a sleazy stalker.. Disturbing, yet likeable - just the way electronic music should be.. you're left questioning 'what the f**k was that' - that was Jimmy Edgar.” National Student

    John Peel

We would like to send out our love to all of John Peels family after hearing the sad news of his death. As well as all the support he gave to our artists over the last 15 years, John was the first person to contact us when we started the label - he phoned the shop in Sheffield himself in 1989 before anyone had a clue what we were doing and was raving about the Forgemasters track - it made our day.
