Jackson and his Computer Band

Jimmy Edgar

Jimmy Edgar

The debut single on Warp for new signing Jackson and his Computer Band, Rock On, was released on Monday. Scrunching Aphex into Hendrix, Boards of Canada into Bowie and T Rex into Hecker, this is some of the freshest, most original, and epic electronic music we have heard for quite some time. Glitchy madness abounds.

The absolutely beautiful new single America's Boy is out now on 7”. Showcasing a new, stripped down sound, Trish Keenan and James Cargill have recorded some of their most emotionally resonant and direct music ever on forthcoming album Tender Buttons. Fuzzy antique synths whirl around metronome beats, heralding yet another compositional direction for the band and the songs are better than ever. Warpbot has been singing half the album to itself while writing this in fact! You can buy America's Boy now on 7” from Warpmart. Tender Buttons is released on 19th September.

We are thrilled to announce a brand new start-up company from Warp Films, Warp X, which beat off strong competition from 17 other independent film companies to win more than £4.5 million in funding over the next 3 years from UK Film Council, FilmFour and regional funding bodies EM Media and Screen Yorkshire. The project, which aims to introduce the next wave of cutting-edge UK film-makers, will launch in January 2006 when it will seek out emerging writers, directors and producers. No submitted material or job enquiries will be considered for the slate before that time. There promises to be lots of goodness to look forward to

Thanks to the masterful production and wonderful song writing, Multiply is one of those all-to-rare albums that significantly improves with each spin, as layers and qualities are slowly revealed. It’s an album you need to live with and it’s not surprising that it is gradually becoming regarded as one of the finest British soul albums ever.

The title track Multiply will be released as a single on 3rd October, backed with mixes from Hot Chip, Gonzales and Matthew Herbert. More details to follow.
